If you read the recent development in the Destiny The Taken King debacle, you would have also read up on the rather unexpected stance taken by the developers in a recent interview – especially Luke Smith, Creative Director on Destiny: The Taken King.
What he did is all here, but the after effects were not at all good for the game as well as Bungie who looked more money hungry than ever.
Now, however, not only has Luke Smith come up with what looks like a heartfelt apology, but Bungie has also confirmed that your complaints have been listened:
Reading my interview with Eurogamer and imagining it came from some random developer of a game I love – that random developer looks like an Asshat. But that Asshat was me – and those words rightfully anger you. I’m sorry. My words made it sound as if Bungie doesn’t care about their most loyal fans. We do care. We are listening. And we will make it right.
So, the content that was previously exclusive to the Collector’s Edition will now be sold separately for $20 “upgrade bundle” – yes, you won’t have to repurchase the base game for it. This will go on sale on September 15.
As for the people who “purchased the existing Digital Collector’s Edition, and you already owned Destiny and both expansion packs,” you guys will probably get a good news too but in a little while.
Oh and about the players who have been with the game through and through since the release, you guys are also going to get something to boast of:
If you already have a Light Level 30 Guardian, or if you’ve picked up and played both The Dark Below and House of Wolves, then you’re a VIP in The Tower’s book. They’ll reward you accordingly with a victory lap that will include a permanently exclusive set of items.
So far that is what Bungie has announced with regards to Destiny The Taken King expansion, whether it is going to be enough or not is purely up to you!
