The PC port of Final Fantasy VII will make its way to the PlayStation 4 on October 16 in North America and Europe, Square Enix has announced.
Do note that this is the ‘PC port’ of Final Fantasy VII and not the Remake which was announced at E3 2015 last week. Expect no vast graphical improvements in this re-release, which is pretty much the same as the original, except for the addition of a few tweaks, cloud saves, and achievements/trophies.
According to a product listing on Square Enix’s website, Final Fantasy VII will be priced at $16.99 or £12.99 on the PlayStation 4.
In related news, the Final Fantasy VII Remake could be more than just refreshing things with newer technologies. According to comments made by Nomura, the project is more like a re-imagining and the story may deviate in some ways.
In fact, Nomura felt confident in this decision and even told GameSpot that there was no reason to release the same again in its exact format.
That’s a pretty thin sheet of ice on which Nomura is walking right now. We’ll wait to see how the community digests the changes as soon as they are made available for the public.
