The Australian Classification Board, North America’s equivalent of Entertainment Software Rating Board, has rated Zombi for a release on the Xbox One.
The listing further mentions Ubisoft as a publisher. Given both clues – title and publisher – this looks to be a port of ZombiU, a mediocre Wii U exclusive released back in 2012.
Rumors of ZombiU being in development for the current-gen consoles had already arrived prior to this listing. In fact Ubisoft was expected to announce the port during its media briefing at E3 2015. While that never took place, I can understand Ubisoft not wanting to bring in any news on re-releases at E3.
ZombiU was a launch title for the Wii U console, where London is faced with a terrible zombie outbreak. The first-person survival horror game was developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, and had players trying to survive waves of the undead.
The game received a mixed reception. Many publishers marked it favorably for its idea, while others thumbed it down for a disappointing execution. In the end, ZombiU failed to garner any success at all.
Later on, it was revealed that Ubisoft cancelled the development of a sequel to the game due to the terrible sales. The studio expressed its disappointment in Nintendo’s console and pretty much washed its hands of the whole Wii U hype.
