The much rumored remastered edition of the original Gears of War has been unveiled by Microsoft during its E3 2015 press conference to be Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
The overhauled version is confirmed to be running in native 1080p resolution, and pumping out 60 frames-per-second in both the single and multiplayer modes. The visuals have been drastically improved, and now are sharper than ever.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will also feature new content. Information on this hasn’t been divulged for the time being, but we can expect Microsoft to come about in the coming weeks.
As of today, Xbox One owners with an Xbox Live Gold subscription can play the multiplayer beta for the game, which will run for the next week. The open beta requires nothing more from you except an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
This happens to be the 10th anniversary year of the original game’s launch. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be celebrating this momentous occasion with its launch for the Xbox One on August 25.
