The official PlayStation 4 Box Art for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has been outed by online retailer Amazon.
EA has clarified that the second game in the action-platformer series should not be treated as a sequel to the original. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is more of a reboot of the 2013 title, with a new vision that “honors the first game” while bringing “new, interesting gameplay and features” to the mix.
In an open letter addressed to fans, Senior Producer Sara Jansson said that the first Mirror’s Edge had a “unique soul.” While the game was loved by many, EA realized that it could be much more.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is going to be featured in EA’s press conference at E3 2015, where the publisher intends to do a full reveal. These past years have been spent in trying to achieve a grand vision, and on Monday, June 15 at 1:00 PM PDT, we’ll see whether the wait was worth it.
We have landed on a vision that honors the first game — pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith — but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players.
