Rumor has it that Nintendo is planning to release a female version of Link in the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors.
The character’s design and illustration were recently spotted in a Hyrule Warriors art book, where “Linkle” was showcased besides various other characters. The art book categorically claimed that the character was “devised as being sister-like.”
There is a bit of confusion in this regard. The text actually says “imouto teki,” which translates into little sister-like. Some, however, are taking that as “little sister” or “daughter.” Both of which puts the character on wrong ends.
This female version of Link is not his sibling and neither is she his daughter.
To add fuel to the burning rumor, a crossbow was spotted in the 3DS debut trailer of Hyrule Warriors which appears to be similar to what was shown in the concept art for the female Link.
Earlier this year, Tecmo Koei announced that Hyrule Warriors had sold over 1 million copies worldwide. The United States was responsible for a major part of these sales. That seems reasonable seeing how the game sold 0.2 million copies in the region during just the release week.
