Chris Pratt has had to do a lot of weight gain and loss for his various roles as an actor, but he’s recently come out and stated that gaining weight for the TV sitcom ‘Parks and Recreation’ rendered him sexually impotent.
The Hollywood star revealed on Female First that he was unable to perform sex after gaining weight when playing as Andy Dwyer on the show. His problems weren’t only limited to impotence though.
“I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”
The actor was nearly 300lbs in 2013, and he felt that his popularity was linked to his major physical overhaul. He also told men’s magazine about how he felt regarding his overweight appearance.
“I saw myself in an episode and in the matter of two moments very close together, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting fat.”
The main reason Chris got convinced that he needed to lose all that unhealthy mass was when he re-watched his own performance as a Navy SEAL in the 2012 action thriller ‘Zero Dark Thirty’.
“I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for ‘Moneyball’, got fat again, then trimmed down for ‘Zero Dark Thirty’, then gained it all back again for Andy.
“That’s when I saw ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and right after walking out I was like: ‘I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again.'”
Chris Pratt is set to appear in the upcoming Jurassic World movie from Stephen Spielberg, starring as Owen. The movie is set to be released in cinemas next week on Friday, June 12.
