Apparently, a former disgruntled Bethesda employee had already leaked Fallout 4 a year ago on Reddit. At the time, many users who prided themselves in being hardcore fans of the post-apocalyptic series, ridiculed the alleged employee’s claims. However, following the announcement of Fallout 4 this week, revisiting the same post makes us connect quite a few dots.
Sandra Reed (unclear as to whether it’s an alias) posted on the Fallout sub-Reddit a year ago, stating that she had been “fired for releasing confidential information.” She claimed that it was an accident and the ruling was too harsh for her and her family.
In response to her new unemployment status, Reed posted a lengthy piece about the then rumored Fallout 4, pointing out in detail the featured factions, creatures inhabiting the world, returning characters, and more.
She also posted a complete “Roadmap” for the game, and it ties in perfectly with the current E3 reveal, and even the release date. Note that Bethesda has already confirmed the game for a 2015 release, and from Reed’s post Fallout 4 will release in October. Additionally, she also mentioned at the time that the game would be set in Boston, which has been confirmed now as well.

Importantly, we once again see the mention of a cross-gen release. Earlier this week, internet detectives came up with the mention of last-gen platforms while rummaging through Fallout 4’s teaser website. However, when the game was only announced for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, many believed a cross-gen release to be impossible.
According to Reed, the game will indeed release for the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, but will so two months after the current-gen release.
Interestingly, there’s also a Fallout Spinoff in the works by Behavior Interactive. No information on what exactly that is.
As for the gameplay, the former employee claimed that it will be very similar to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Players will have the option of playing in either third-person or first-person. On the PC, there will be a new “Classic Mode” that will feature a bird’s eye view, bringing the game closer to the classic Fallout games.
Players will only have the option of playing as a man, due to “the game’s storyline requiring it.” Upon completion of the game, though, players will be able to change their genders.
Lastly, Bethesda is said to be allowing players to carry forward their Fallout 3 save files to the new installment.
There is plenty of other information about the game’s world. You can head over to the original post and check it out for yourself. I don’t believe there’s anything in her post that could relate to spoilers. Nonetheless, you have been warned.
