Treyarch is apparently holding on to a special announcement for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, which will surprise fans when it makes its appearance at E3 2015 this month.
The developer has so far revealed plenty of details about its next installment in the highly acclaimed franchise. According to Design Director David Vonderhaar, though, there is still something left to be told.
In a recent tweet, he shared an image of a clockwork monkey wearing all kinds of wires, supposedly strapped with a bomb. He captioned it with “Get ready for a surprise,” and called it as a throwback photo.
The monkey bomb is a piece of equipment from the series’ Zombie mode, where it said “Get ready for a surprise” when thrown. It’s possible that whatever special announcement Treyarch has for E3 2015, involves the undead.
Elsewhere, Vonderhaar replied to a fan tweet of Nuketown, a popular multiplayer map to the Black Ops series. The fan captioned the photo with “Gone but not forgotten,” to which Vonderhaar replied, “Says who.”
The director’s reply gives credence to the assumption that Treyarch will be bringing Nuketown back in the new installment. It’s another announcement that could be witnessed during the game’s presence at E3 2015.
Internet detectives believe that Treyarch will be adding Nuketon as a pre-order bonus for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, or as a DLC map.
E3 2015 is going to take place from June 16 to 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Call of Duty: Black Ops III is pegged for a release on November 6 for all major platforms.
