“We apologize for any confusion resulting from an incorrect post shared on our Australian Facebook page in January. As we revealed at gamescom 2014, ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ will be available in Holiday 2015, exclusively on Xbox. We have no additional details to share at this time.”
As far as consumers are concerned, Rise of the Tomb Raider has been on a frustrating roller coaster ride with only vague indications towards its intended platforms.
The upcoming action-adventure sequel to the 2013 video game Tomb Raider, was announced last year to be exclusive to the Xbox platform. Following Gamescom in August, Xbox boss Phil Spencer, however, clarified that the exclusivity deal “has a duration.”
While he didn’t mention how long the duration would be, his statement did confirm that the game would be eventually releasing for other platforms (PlayStation 4 and PC).
Today, the official Facebook page of Xbox Australia has stated that Rise of the Tomb Raider is going to launch as an exclusive title for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
“And for those wondering; Rise of the Tomb Raider will be Xbox exclusive. Not timed exclusive but exclusive,” the page made sure to leave out any ambiguity.
With E3 2015 around the corner, we expect Microsoft to finally give the official word on whether it has decided to keep Rise of the Tomb Raider for its own platforms.
On that note, the PC also does in a way come under them. With Microsoft bridging the gap between the Xbox One and PC with the new Windows 10 release, it would be pleasing to know if the game was released on our humble platform as well.
