Star Wars Battlefront is not going to feature space battles; and many fans are not happy about it – or at least wondering why that is the case.
You might have hated it too, but lets look at the reasons why EA DICE has in support of their decision to skip space based battles in the game.
According to a piece in the latest Official PlayStation Magazine (thanks Games Radar), the executive producer Patrick Bach says they didn’t want to divert attention away from the core “Battlefront” experience by letting them “fly off” away from the ground:
We want players to stay in the same [environment] – we don’t want players to fly off and do something over here. It’s about the Battlefront experience, so we want to keep you in-atmosphere and fighting with the infantry.
Does that make sense to you?
That being said, Bach also pointed out to the fact that they were only just joining in the Star Wars saga with Star Wars Battlefront; there was a fleeting hint in it that may be the sequel to this game would have space battles too.
I think what he was trying to say for now is that instead of putting each and everything that was demanded, and making a mess out of it, they chose to be selective so that they could make something that is “great for what it is,” and left the other features for the next title in the series.
We have to start somewhere. You can’t do everything at once. We want to build something that’s great for what it is, and have a holistic view on what we’re trying to achieve, rather than tossing everything in there from the start.
Are you fine with the fact that Star Wars Battlefront is going to skip some of the features people would love to see?
