A new Need for Speed game will be officially revealed on Thursday, May 21, Electronic Arts has announced.
Posting on the official Need for Speed Facebook page, the publisher teased that fans would be able to get the “first look at the return of NFS” this week. On that note, let us remember our oath as sane gamers that no sort of media should be believed until the final version comes to light. Even if it has “in-game footage” slapped across the entire screen.
According to popular speculation, the new Need for Speed title could be heading back to the Underground series. Fans have clearly voiced their wishes to EA in the past, and we’ll see this week if the company has decided to make them true.
This year’s Need for Speed installment is being developed by Sweden-based studio Ghost Games. The franchise skipped out on a release last year, which was a surprising break from its busy schedule for the last decade.
According to EA, the decision was made so that the project could have an “extended development window.” In January this year, the publisher stated that the game was “already looking spectacular.”
Developer Ghost Games has previously promised to listen to the community during the game’s fine-tuning. “We’re going to give you the game you’ve been asking for. It will be the game you deserve, but to do that will take us some time,” is what the studio’s General Manager Marcus Nilsson said in May of 2014.
