The blog post, titled “Dear Galaxy” was from Niklas Fegraeus, Design Director for the game and self professed huge Star Wars fan.
He goes on to explain that he wants this game to exude the fandom that his entire development team has for the Star Wars franchise.
We want Star Wars Battlefront to be not only authentic but respectful to this universe we all hold so dear. Hopefully, you’ve seen the length we go to in order to achieve this, ranging from scanning actual film props to including original sounds. Simply put, we want every fan of Star Wars to feel like this game celebrates this amazing galaxy far, far away and captures that special magic we’ve all fallen in love with.
He also explains why they’ve chosen to completely reboot the franchise instead of making a sequel, something that has made some fans a little angry.
We have chosen to reboot the Star Wars Battlefront franchise instead of making a sequel. The reason is quite simple: we want to pay homage to this beloved franchise, while making our own stamp for a new generation.
He closes his post by announcing that they will have actual gameplay footage to show off at E3 and is excited to show all the fans what they have been working on.
I really look forward to showing you all more from the game as we get closer to release, and for you guys who are asking me when you can see gameplay, I can tell you that we have great plans for E3. So tune in starting June 15, because at E3 this year, Star Wars Battlefront gameplay will make its debut and we’re all super excited to show it to you.
