Nothing has been said about it officially by the developers, but the community knows that Borderlands 3 is going to come out soon.
Now, Gearbox Software are looking for an Art Director, could it be for the next iteration in the Borderlands series?
Gearbox Software is on the lookout for an industry leading Art Director to work on an exciting unannounced project, where we’ll continue to pioneer and explore new aesthetic opportunities! If you want to grow and lead a team of talented artists in continuing to redefine visuals in the game industry then you should apply!
As expected, the fact that this is an unannounced project also meant that Gearbox was not willing to share anything specific about the project, not even job details that would hint out at something.
However, they still had to list the job responsibilities that the chosen Art Director will have to fulfil. Two of the points given at the job listing read “maintain high aesthetic standards while crafting flow, visual storytelling, and progression” and “demonstrate a high level of creativity and originality while being comfortable in adapting to a wide range of styles.”
More importantly, in terms of experience they are demanding “solid understanding of 2D and 3D design principles,” and considering “Unreal 3/UDK experience a plus.”
So yeah, there isn’t much there.
However, fans have been talking a lot about Borderlands 3, could it be that Gearbox Software is finally gearing up for it?
Just for a background, the game producer had said in March that Borderlands 3 doesn’t exist yet; but the game was expected to be revealed at PAX South and after that Take Two Interactive also mentioned it saying that it will say goodbye to the last gen consoles.
There is a pretty solid chance that the developers are finally hiring for Borderlands 3, what do you think?
