Bloodstained Kickstarter Smashes Goals, Nearing $2 Million Mark
Earlier this week I reported that Castlevania creator Koji Igarashi would be crowd funding his spiritual successor to the beloved franchise he gave birth to, titled Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Well he has not only succeeded, but destroyed all expectations. With the help of a twitch stream fundraiser titled “igavania” to kick it off, his kickstarter campaign is quickly approaching the $2 million mark.
Over on twitter, the official Kickstarter twitter feed is posting many updates and has since announced that the $1.75 million goal of Speed Run Mode has been unlocked. This goal was achieved within the same day that the Kickstarter went live and it doesn’t seem to show any signs of stopping.
The previous stretch goals ranged from in game content like Nightmare difficulty and a second playable character, to outside content like a hardcover artbook and voice over acting by Solid Snake himself, David Hayter.
While Igarashi promises that there will be more stretch goals added as needed, the final one remaining on the list above is Boss Rush Mode. A staple of later Castlevania games and definitely a fan favorite include.
Aside from the Kickstarter campaign, there is also a mysterious site that is taking votes for either a sword or whip. The Kickstarter page says that whip is slightly ahead and teases that the winning side will get something special.
Maybe a special weapon in the game or something even more epic? Only time will tell so head on over to the site and cast your vote for your demon slaying weapon of choice.
Have you backed Bloodstained yet? Do you plan to as more stretch goals become unlocked? Let us know in the comments!
