Electronic Arts’ CEO Blake Jorgensen believes that the company will sell at least 9-10 million copies of Star Wars: Battlefront.
Jorgensen announced it during a post-earning financial call on Tuesday. One important thing to note here is that the sales figure is only for Electronic Arts’ fiscal year 2016 and does not estimate the installment’s lifetime sales. EA’s fiscal year 2016 ends on Mar. 31, 2016.
Jorgensen also announced that since Star Wars: Battlefront is based on Disney’s Star Wars franchise, EA is bound to pay Disney its royalty fee.
Nonetheless, EA is ‘very optimistic and excited’ about the upcoming iteration, Jorgensen said.
For the sake of comparison; EA managed to sell 2.72 million units of Star Wars: The Old Republic on PC. On the other, Star Wars: Battlefront I and Star Wars: Battlefront II sold 7.20 million copies worldwide.
