The Invasion mode will not return to Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries has confirmed.
Debut in Halo Reach, the Invasion mode features two teams of six players (Elites and Spartans) who strive to steal the others power core while defending their own. The mode never gained that much popularity, but was still something refreshing for the game’s multiplayer portion.
However, fans shouldn’t feel left out. According to Studio Chief Josh Holmes, there are several new modes that are going to be announced soon.
“No Invasion but more to come on larger scale MP. Stay tuned!” he responded on the forums.
It’s rumored that 343 Industries will be announcing a four-player cooperative mode soon. This is based on a report of last week, where players pieced up 53 of the puzzle pieces that Microsoft has sent out so far in its #HUNTtheTRUTH marketing campaign. You can read up on that here.
Halo 5: Guardians is pegged for a release on October 27 exclusively for the Xbox One. It goes without saying, that this is going to be one of the biggest releases of the year and is going to rack up tremendous numbers for Microsoft.
