The Age of Adaline knocked down Furious 7 from the number 1 spot at the box office on Friday.
The romantic fantasy opened with a $4.9 million and claimed the first position; this figure is huge considering the high female driven audience and everyone might not be interested in watching a romantic film.
However, Furious 7 is expected to gain its spot back when it rules the fourth weekend in a row, thinking about the diverse audiences the franchise has and the number of screens it is hitting globally.
Furious 7 will cross the four consecutive weekends mark after the Hunger Games in 2012, the movie has grossed $4.8 million from 3,808 screens on Friday, although the studio expect it to cross the $16m tag over the three-day weekend.
Blake Lively’s The Age of Adaline opened at 2,991 cinemas and it is anticipated to gross 12 million plus at the end of the weekend.
The movie features Harrison Ford, Michael Huisman and Ellen Burstyn. Sidney Kimmel produced the movie alongside Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 isn’t far behind either, it took the third spot on Friday but the Box Office pundits expect it to take the second slot by the end of the weekend putting The Age of Adaline in third position and Furious 7 back to the top.
