Blizzard has announced a pretty interesting piece of news for eSports fans. The Grand Finals of the collegiate tournament for Heroes of the Storm will be aired on ESPN2 at 6:30 P.M. Pacific.
Two teams will battle each other for supremacy in the final match of “Heroes of the Dorm” tournament, but only one will emerge as the victor. This is a perfect example of how eSports is gaining popularity along the lines of regular sports.
The final four teams, which Blizzard is calling “Heroic Four,” will start their first match at 2.30 P.M. Pacific this Sunday. The first match will feature Arizona State vs Boston College.
The Heroes of the Dorm collegiate tournament will reach its frenzied conclusion when the Grand Finals kick off this Sunday, April 26, at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles! Our Heroic Four teams have bashed and brawled their way through weeks of competition, as well as teams hailing from hundreds of schools across North America, to reach the Heroic Four
Later on, at 4:30 P.M. Pacific you will be able to enjoy the battle between Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Cal. Both of these matches will be available to watch on ESPN3.com. After the second match, the action will air live on ESPN2.
That means millions of people with ESPN2 can watch the battle go down and be exposed to the world of pro-gaming. This also gives eSports a chance to entertain people on one of the biggest sports networks.
Share your comments below and let us know which team are you supporting. I’m rooting for Boston by the way.
