A teaser trailer titled “Ember” has been released by Activision for its upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III installment.
Treyarch’s new take on the franchise looks to take the fight into the future, much like what we experienced with Sledgehammer Games’ recent Advanced Warfare release.
The three minutes long video features no in-game footage, and is in the form of a documentary where it explores the potential and dangers of cybernetic implants.
“In the next 50 years, technological advancements will lead us into a world where only those who risk going too far, will find out how far we can actually go,” reads the official description.
According to Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops III will drag players into a “dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerge and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead.” Seems like there’s a good chance we’ll see an antagonist that has too much love for his cybernetically enhanced self.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is confirmed to include a single-player campaign, a diverse multiplayer mode, and of course zombies. A world reveal is set for April 26.
The original Call of Duty: Black Ops was set during the Cold War, while Black Ops II took players into the future where warfare was given a new meaning. The third installment is going to continue expanding on that futuristic meaning.
