A new developer diary for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gives us a first look at Charles Dance’s performance in the game as Emperor Emhyr var Emreis.
Notable for his ruthless and cunning role as Tywin Lannister in the Game of Thrones TV series, Charles Dance has never before acted in a game. Speaking about his first experience with The Witcher 3, Dance said “it’s a whole new world for me. It’s quite exciting, actually.”
The actor also gave us a few details about his character. Emperor Emhyr var Emreis is a “very very powerful man, the most powerful man, and as such, he doesn’t need to throw his weight around. He’s a man of few words. The words he speak speaks volumes, and he’s ruthless. He’s ruthless because he has to be.”
Emhyr rules over Nilfgaard — the empire that invaded the Northern Kingdoms in the previous title, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt went Gold last week and is now confirmed for a release on May 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will feature sixteen pieces of free DLC that will be released each week since the game’s release. The developer has also announced an expansion pack that will feature two chapters which in total will add up to an additional 30 hours of gameplay.
