Ryan Gosling is currently in talks with Alcon Entertainment to star in its upcoming sequel of Blade Runner.
The film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) and executive produced by Ridley Scott who directed the original thriller classic. Michael Green and Hampton Fancher have written the screenplay based on Scott and Fancher’s original idea.
Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard a police officer who hunts replicants, the sequel takes place several years after the 1982 original. Blade Runner 2 is expected to start filming in Summer 2016.
Details about Ryan Gosling’s character and the story remain unknown for now. Gosling who has previously worked on some Indie movies is finally paving his way towards the mainstream cinema.
He is associated with major league banners which include La La Land, The Nice Guys, Weightless and The Big Short opposite A-List actors.
We might remember Gosling from Crazy, Stupid, Love and Drive.
Back in 2011, Alcon entertainment purchased Blade Runner’s rights with the plans of making sequels and the prequels of the legendary thriller. Bud Yorkin will be producing the movie along with Cynthia Sikes Yorkin, Broderick Johnson and Andrew A. Kosove from Alcon.
We are yet to witness the grand bromance of Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, the movie starts production in 2016.
