Microsoft released Xbox One back in 2013 and since then, they’re doing everything they can to compete with Sony’s PlayStation 4. The company backtracked on its DRM policy, removed Kinect, dropped the price and used plenty of other tactics.
PlayStation 4 has gained a lot of success in the U.S but UK is also one of its strong points even though Xbox One is doing pretty good. However, Microsoft wants to gain more attention in the region now, by reducing the price of their Xbox One yet again.
Unfortunately, what I first thought of as a permanent price price drop, is actually a temporary promotion. Microsoft said they want to offer their console with a promotional price ahead of big releases like Batman: Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Halo 5: Guardians.
Keep in mind that this offer is limited to UK:
This is a UK-only retail promotion and offers great value for fans looking to buy an Xbox One ahead of the launch of 2015’s highly-anticipated games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Batman: Arkham Knight, along with Xbox exclusives such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 5: Guardians.
Xbox One was being sold in the UK for £329.99 before this £30 price drop. Microsoft’s move came shortly after some UK retailers started selling Xbox One for £239.99. On the other hand, PS4 is being sold at £349.99 with no price cut.
Xbox One has a strong line-up for 2015 compared to PS4, so the console may overtake its rival once again.
