Heavensward, the upcoming expansion to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will feature over fifty hours of additional gameplay. This and a lot of other information was revealed during the latest letter from the Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida.
The above mentioned fifty hours of gameplay clocks for only the main campaign. There will be plenty of side missions for players to get involved in, and these, along with new job quests for both existing and new jobs, will be added through new patches.
Some new areas will be twice, while others be half, larger than the existing ones. In total players have nine new areas to look forward to. Flight will be possible in all of the expansion areas, but not in the old ones. Additionally, flying mounts will be able to land and take off without restrictions.
Leveling of new jobs will start from level 30 instead of 1, and multiple new actions will be added to each job. New equipment is going to be included, as well as new tomestones. New recipes and Materia V will be added for crafting, as well as a crafting specialization system for three classes of the player’s choosing.
There’s a new “Divine Favors” feature which will allow players to find hidden gathering points. These will remain active only for a limited time and obtainable through scripts. The Regional Folklore system will also be added, allowing you to obtain high level gathering items.
There are eight new instanced dungeons set in Heavensward. The Alexander raid will be both in normal and savage mode. Primals Ravana and Bismarck will have their own battles in normal and hard mode. A new frontline area will be introduced, alongside a new ruleset and new PvP rewards.
The Alexander dungeon will be opened two weeks after the release of the expansion. Two weeks later the savage version will open, allagan tomestones of esoterics will be available and the new frontline area will be opened as well.
Heavensward will be released on June 23 for the PS4, PS3 and PC.
