Scarlett Johansson eyed for Creature From The Black Lagoon Remake
Rumor has it that Scarlett Johansson is been considered for the lead character in Creature From The Black Lagoon remake, a reiteration of the 1954 original movie.
Universal Studios is remaking the mythical hybrid movie based on a script that will be written by Paul Schering, Jeff Blitz, Tedi Sarafian and Gary Ross. It will be produced by Gary Ross along with Eric Newman, Marc Abraham and Robin Bissell, reports The Tracking Board.
As it’s just a rumor we cannot be sure if Universal Studios are considering Johansson or even if they are, she might not say yes to the franchise as she already has a lot going on with big banners.
The original movie directed by Jack Arnold follows the story of ‘gill man’ a mythical creature that is half human and half fish. Gill Man develops a certain attraction towards a female scientist named Kay Lawrence (Julie Adams) who is out on an Amazonian expedition with a group of other scientists.
If the studio sticks with the original story, Scarlett Johansson will most probably play Lawrence’s role. If they decide to keep the budget of this movie as Dracula Untold which was $70 million reportedly, they won’t be able to afford Johansson. Let’s all admit it, she is a star now and she won’t just settle for an amount less than what she is earning.
Scarlett Johansson might not even say yes to the franchise as she already has Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War coming next year and there is a hundred percent chance of two more movies featuring Black Widow.
She is also signed up for Ghost in the Shell, The Jungle Book and Hail, Caesar! Committing to another major franchise might not be the right move for her.
