Long time SimCity fans will remember a game called SimCopter. The game was released back in 1996 and allowed users to import their maps from SimCity 2000 and fly a helicopter in those custom maps.
Now in 2015, Cities: Skylines is bringing back the good old days of flying around your cities in a helicopter. Since release, Cities: Skylines has received thousands of mods and has become one of the most popular games among our modding community.
One of these mods is adding this feature to the game and is appropriately named “CityCopter.” Mod is currently in development and is being worked on by InconsolableCellist on Reddit.
The developer hasn’t given a time frame as to when we can expect to see this mod released, but he will share more news in the near future.
Users will be able to fly around their cities after building a hangar and a helipad. The helicopter you fly will feature a collision detection system and a physical cockpit.
The most intriguing and unique feature of CityCopter, is without a doubt is its support for Oculus Rift VR. Image how amazing it will be to fly around a city you created in VR.
