Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke Said No to Fifty Shades of Grey, Why?
Emilia Clarke revealed that she was offered the role of Anastasia Steele from Fifty Shades of Grey but she turned down the offer.
Emilia Clarke did not want to be labelled for just nudity that is why she refused to play the leading lady in Fifty Shades of Grey (oops! I mean the submissive lady).
Clarke revealed during her chat with The Hollywood Reporter, that prior to Dakota Johnson she was asked to play the role but she refused. We all have our rules, For Emilia Clarke it was ‘no more nude’ policy.
Although the movie was expected to be a blockbuster and taking this role might have put Clarke in the A League, but she stood by her rules and said no.
“I’d done nudity before and was concerned with being labelled for doing it again,” says the 28-year-old star.
Clarke however, refused the role but she was curious enough to set up two meetings with Sam Taylor-Johnson, director of Fifty Shades of Grey. The actress has ‘No Regrets’ although the movie has grossed somewhere above $550 million.
Emilia Clarke will be playing Sarah Conner in the upcoming Terminator: Genisys ($170 million project), which is also expected to be a huge success. The reason that Clarke gave for choosing Terminator: Genisys over Fifty Shades of Grey was she wanted to play a character, which will establish her identity in the industry other than Daenerys Targaryen wearing a platinum wig.
“I get to play other roles without the comparison of being Daenerys, which I think is so lucky,”
Emilia Clarke’s Game of Thrones premieres on 12 April.
