Sony Launches a Network Status Page for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita

Sony has launched a status page for PSN. The page will let users know of PSN services are up and running or the network is down.

SONY

Well, Sony is late to the party but at least they are here. The company has finally launched a status page to let users know if their services are up and running.

Issues with PSN aren’t hidden from anybody and the service is often down. Users had to visit FAQ pages or head over to PS support page on twitter to inquire about the issue. It’s surprising how long it took Sony to realize the need for a status page. On the other hand Microsoft started a similar page ages ago.

The newly launched page is for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita and will show stability of the following services:

  • Account Management
  • Create Account
  • Gaming and Social
  • PlayStation®Now
  • Video Unlimited
  • PlayStation®Vue
  • PlayStation®Store
  • Purchase
  • Download
  • Browse
  • Search
  • Redeem Voucher

The color green indicates that a service is up and running, while I assume red will suggest a problem.  In the case of the service being down, completely or partially,  the status page will update immediately.

The status page is much appreciated but hopefully, Sony will also make an effort to secure and stabilize their network services.  Just a few month ago, Sony was a victim of a cyber attack and now a new report suggests that a user account was hacked.

The user in question is Ryan Hamann, who was locked out of his account. His credit card was charged with $570 worth of extra Fifa 15 points and the account was also transferred to a different console in Europe.

This raises the question, is Sony doing enough and is committed to securing their network?
