CBS and Warner Brothers have finally released the first images of Super Girl yesterday (check it out at the end of the story).

Melissa Benoist from “Glee” bagged the role earlier this year. CBS and Warner Bros. released two images of Benoist dressed up in the awesome costume.

It is quite different from the comic version, which showed short-cropped top and bleach blonde hair. Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers in the newly released images recoils from the original comic depiction. CBS’s Supergirl is however a brunette.

Oscar-Winner Colleen Atwood is designing the costume for Supergirl. “In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today,” added the 66-year-old.

Production for the pilot episode started this week with Greg Berlanti, creator of The Arrow and Flash, along with Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg.

The series begins with Kara Zar-El also known as the Supergirl who has escaped Krypton’s destruction and is on Earth now.

Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, Laura Benanti, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan will join Melissa Benoist on the sets of Supergirl as Cat Grant, Jimmy Olsen, Alura Zor-El, Alex Danvers and Winslow Schott respectively.

The TV series is expected to have a crossover with The Arrow and Flash at some point, however CBS’s president confirms that she doesn’t see any crossover happening between the three shows any time soon.
