Xenoblade Chronicles X Battle System Detailed in Second Live Presentation, Details Inside

During Xenoblade Chronicles X recent presentation, developer Monolith Soft shed some light on the game’s battle system.

The whole combat system is comprised of melee-attacks and ranged-attacks with integrated special attacks called ‘Arts’.

These special attacks are further divided into different categories such as Fighting Arts, Support Arts, Shooting Arts, and more.

However, do note that ‘Arts’ have their cooldown time so as to restrict players from spamming them during a battle. This is where ‘Overclock Gear’ comes to the rescue! This system allows players to execute powerful attacks such as ‘Arts’ without worrying about the cooldown time.

‘Soul Voice’ is another interesting mechanic which allows characters to communicate with each other and send/receive commands during a battle.

Cutting off different limbs of a monster is also seen which hinders the ability of a monster to use that particular limb and awards players with special items.

Lastly, positioning is an important aspect in Xenoblade Chronicles X and affects your character’s damage output and accuracy.

Also note that Mira is full of fearsome monster and in addition to all mentioned combat mechanics, never undermine the usefulness of running away. If you come across a monster having a higher level than your character, there is no shame in running away to save your skin. For more details, you can check out the video provided above.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is slated to launch in Japan on Apr. 29, 2015 exclusively for Wii U. The game will also launch on North America and Europe later this year.
