So fans of Driveclub, I am sure you would be angry that even after such a long wait Sony still can’t guarantee the free PS Plus Edition of the game. Do tell us if this cheers you up: someone at Sony has confirmed that work is being done on the free edition to launch it as quickly as they can.
When something like this comes out less than a day after totally conflicting announcement is made, it really bothers the journalists as well as the readers. Probably that is why the news we are reported on didn’t come out from the official sources.
What happened was that yesterday, the PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan stated that the free Driveclub version was still being looked at and he couldn’t say for sure whether it will release or not.
Now, Eurogamer has reported based on statement given by a spokesperson that this is not the case. The unnamed source says:
We are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible.
This is all quite confusing, but as far as I am concerned, the word of PlayStation Europe boss should have a lot more weight; especially considering that we are not talking about something that they would hide like a super secret.
My best guess is that the developers are struggling at the moment due to the server capacity, they are really working on it, but since they are not there yet, anything could happen.
We might get the free Driveclub PS Plus Edition and we might not even hear of a release ever – only time will tell.
What’s your take on this?
