Driveclub has had a really, really buggy launch that pissed off almost everyone who ever hoped to play the game. Ever since it was released, the developers kept promising that they were working on the fixes alongside promises of making up to it with other stuff.
Driveclub PS Plus Edition could be considered as one of the latter, but it seems even that is not going to get a clean slate.
Jim Ryan the head of PlayStation 4 for Europe was recently talking to Metro where he was asked if theh free version was still coming. His reply was that it was “still being looked at.”
Yes, I thought exactly what you thought; this means that they were hundred percent sure that it will release. So he was question again if they could guarantee it. Sadly, Ryan said that he “can’t say anything at this stage.”
So yes, you might just have to actually rely on what they have released.
However, not everything is going to the bin like that, the developers have churned out additional content that is supposed to make up for all the trouble that you have gone through in the early days of Driveclub.
For instance, the Apex Car Pack was released last month alongside additional tracks.
Ryan also commented on the glitchy game releases:
We have two roles to play, right? We are a publisher of content in our own right and we are the platform holder who overlays a level of what is called format QA. Obviously the lessons that we learnt in the context of Driveclub were many and painful, and will be applied internally in the context of every first party title that we publish going forward.
Driveclub was released to PlayStation 4 on October 7, 2014.
