Despite the fact that most of us complained about Destiny not having enough content on launch, the community that is regular to the game continues to grow.
It is now pretty diverse with the Raids, Nightfall and the Heroic Strikes. Which means you are all going to be interested in what is coming your way for the latter.
According to a new update by the developer, matchmaking is now going to be mandatory in Heroic Strikes.
In words of Bungie’s design lead M.E. Chung, the reason why they are introducing mandatory matchmaking in the weekly Heroic Strikes is because they wanted the strikes to give you a challenging experience that would be cohesive and based more on cooperation in the group:
We wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed you and your buddies, but what we observed was that these strikes don’t demand the same cooperation of a cohesive pre-made group. The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn’t have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis.
So yes, now you won’t be able to go solo in the Weekly Heroics no natter what.
Nightfall, however, will experience no change in this regard; same is the case with Raids. Chung says that while they are aware of the issues, and they are keeping it under consideration to add matchmaking. “We are thinking hard about how we can help make that an easier experience in future releases,” he says.
