Battlefield: Hardline allegedly has weapons that are exclusive to the game’s Deluxe Edition.
Normally pre-order bonuses are offered later on post-release as part of DLC packages, or even given away for free in some cases. At the moment though it seems Visceral Games is locking specific weapons behind its Deluxe Edition, and these will not be released to other players after.
Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition will net you three rifles that will be available to the Operator Class from launch day. The official Battlefield Twitter account has verified that these will be exclusive to the Deluxe Edition.”
There was a similar incident with Battlefield 3 where some items were classed as exclusive to pre-orders. It didn’t go down well with the community, and I reckon it will be the same this time around as well.
Currently there is no information on the weapons themselves. Battlefield games usually have balanced weaponry and so it seems unlikely that the pre-order bonuses are overpowered. Nonetheless, a publisher forcing players to pre-order a game just to get access to exclusive weaponry is something that’s not being appreciated in this age.
Battlefield: Hardline is due for release on March 17 for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
