Dinosaurs are finally making their way to Battlefield Hardline, but it’s not what you think.
Earlier in the day, it was revealed that Visceral Games has invited a bunch of YouTube Battlefield players to its San Francisco office for some Hardline play.
It was teased by players that it has something to do with dinosaurs and naturally it caused every fan of the franchise to stop functioning for a few moments.
However, following the lifting of the embargo, it has come to light that the inclusion of the pre-historic beasts is just through in-game masks. Similar to PayDay, players on the field will be able to don on raptor and wolf masks. You can watch them in action in the clip above, which is by the popular JackFrags.
I wouldn’t call this as a missed opportunity on Visceral Games’ part. Real breathing dinosaurs would seem bizarre in a military shooter unless they somehow had their own game mode. Having them in a cop/robber shootout would make even lesser sense.
Battlefield: Hardline releases in a month on March 17 for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. While I’m not a fan of seeing the Battlefield franchise shift gears into what we see as Hardline, I have to admit that Visceral Games has done a lot of work to make sure the community agrees with its contents.
