Tomonobu Itagaki, the Japanese video-game designer known for his work on Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, recently took to Facebook to talk about his upcoming project, Devil’s Third.
Since the game is a FP-shooter and TP-hack-and-slash hybrid, Itagaki believes there are a lot of things to set before it’s ready to release. According to him, the game contains a lot of elements “well over the volume to be provided by two regular games.”
To him, the game is not your regular shooter, but “an unprecedented massive shooter” which is going to be enjoyed by tons of players.
Calling it the biggest game of his life and of people from Team Ninja, he said that a long timeframe is required by the game, considering that Ninja Gaiden took four years to develop:
It took two years for the concept working and four years for the development. It’s not surprising at all. Such amount of time is needed to create a totally new game from scratch. I’m sure you’ll dig what I mean if I say we spent four years to develop Ninja Gaiden.
Knowing that the development matters have naught to do with gamers, he stated that more information will be revealed in future and that the game will indeed meet the fans’ expectations:
Such announcement will be made over time. Thanks for your patience. Devil’s Third will meet you guys’ expectation for sure!

Originally planned to release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, Devil’s Third moved to Valhalla Game Studios back in 2013 with Nintendo picking up the publishing duties.
Currently, there is no concrete release date, but the game is expected to launch sometime in 2015 exclusively for Nintendo Wii U.
