We have been hearing of Survarium since as long ago as 2012 but the developers have been delaying their plans here and there.
Despite all of the fuss, there are many players who are interested in the game. We have good news for them; it seems that the developers are feeling confident about what they have done with the game so far.
Unlike the conventional developer diaries that are video, Vostok Games have gone with a long Developer Diary 4 article dedicated to the Freeplay mode. While the highlight of the whole post is that the mode feels a lot like DayZ, there are tons of other details.
So you have only one life and death can come easy while you try to take part in events, go out exploring the world or undertake tasks for various factions. Here is a very small part of the post from the official website of Survarium:
The Freeplay map is much, much bigger than a usual PVP location. There are several large structures, which differ according to the risk and difficulty of gameplay. New players in a weak outfit will not be able to explore the entire map. The most dangerous areas will be available only to players with the best gear and access to some areas will require playing through the story quest chain.
While they won’t limit the amount of time they can stay in a place, there will be a cap on the number of players that can stay at one place. The number of players will also be important because size of the faction will ultimately decide the strength of the faction too.

The game was previously scheduled for release in late 2014 but that release window came and went without it.
Vostok Games is self publishing as well as developing Survarium for Microsoft Windows. No discussion has been done with regards to the release date plans lately.
