Activision has made quite a lot of ripples in the sea with their earnings call for the year.
We have got amazing revenue figures in relation to their new games, we have got astounding number of players that are playing them and we have really exciting news relating to the future of one of the most loved franchise of theirs i.e. Call of Duty.
It was confirmed that Call of Duty 2015 is being made by Treyarch during the same earnings call conference, but you can read all about that here.
Other things that the publisher has shared are equally impressive. For instance, they have revealed that Destiny and Hearthstone combined have a gigantic registered users count: 40 million worldwide!
Also, the revenue that Activision has earned from the two games in the year 2014 was $850 million! Here’s an excerpt from comments that Bobby Kotick, Chief Executive Officer of Activision Blizzard made:
We expanded our franchise portfolio by launching two of the industry’s most successful new brands, Blizzard’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, and the biggest new IP launch in industry history, Destiny. Combined, these franchises attracted over 40 million registered players worldwide and generated more than $850 million in non‐GAAP revenue. This year, we expect to expand our franchise portfolio to 10 blockbusters, up from five franchises at the beginning of 2014. Our amazingly talented teams will continue to produce the world’s best content for gamers.
Also, World of Warcraft now has over 10 million subscribers thanks to Warlords of Draenor’s impressive launch that raked in around 3.3 million new subscriptions in the first 24 hours of release!
You will be able to find a lot more information on their performance and revenues here.
Oh and just a last note to tell you how big Activision has grown: ever since 2008, they have funnelled out as much as $10 billion in terms of repurchases and dividends!
