Barry Allen will be tampering with the delicacy of time in the superhero TV series The Flash.
According to an interview with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg conducted by Entertainment Weekly, the episode Groundhog Day, which will be the 15th of the season, will have the fastest man in the world racing through time.
“There’s an episode coming up where there is inadvertent connection to the Speed Force that results in probably our funniest hour as well as our darkest hour as the dangers of time travel come to light. It’s a mashup between Back to the Future and Terminator—the good version of time travel and the bad version of time travel.”
The episode gets the title from Bill Murray’s 1993 movie Groundhog Day, which saw a weatherman relive the same day over and over again.
While the initial revelation of time-traveling will come as confusing to Barry, eventually he’ll get the hang of the idea and try to utilize it to ameliorate the happenings of the past.
However, Kreisberg cautions that fiddling with the past could result in repercussions for the show, after which things are never really going to be the same in The Flash.
The Flash airs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
