The year 2014 was not very big when it comes to games, as there were very few notable titles. Although, it was revealed earlier this month that Activision’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the biggest seller of last year, but it is EA which has received the honor of being the #1 publisher for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during 2014.
It is quite understandable as there are multiple games under the EA banner that come out every single year and is purchased by the sports fans. The yearly franchises that were successful during last year are FIFA 15, FIFA 14, NHL 15 and Madden NFL 15.
Apart from that, EA also had a couple of highly anticipated releases under its belt in 2014 including Titanfall, The Sims 4, Game of the Year: Dragon Age: Inquisition and more.
You can see from the above mentioned games that the success of EA was pretty much inevitable. EA has also revealed its net revenue for the last quarter, which it claims exceeded the expectations as the company ended up with $1.428 billion.
Ubisoft as always, had a few titles up its sleeves last year as well, but after the launch of Watch Dogs, fans became pretty skeptical about the upcoming games from the publisher and rightly so.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity was a huge mess as it launched with a number of problems that had to be fixed with several patches. Far Cry 4 also faced some issues on its launch as well as The Crew.
Due to the launch problems of Ubisoft titles, the publisher was not able to enjoy as much success as it would have liked.
EA was a big hit last year, but 2015 is a big year as almost every big company is coming up with at least one game that has the potential to be Game of the Year. Who will take the prize of #1 publisher this time around? Let us know!
