1998’s release of Grim Fandango has been remastered for Playstation 4 and you could play it today if you can avoid pre-load issues.
To address the issue, Sony has posted a handful of steps, which are basically asking players to redownload the whole game. The title is only 4.2 GB so it shouldn’t take long to redownload.
If you are experiencing these issues, follow the steps listed below to fix the issue:
- Return to the PS4 store and purchase the free version of the game (this SKU will only be visible to pre-order users at around 9pm PST.) Purchase the SKU only, do not re-download at this point
- Restore PS4 licenses. [Settings] > [PSN] > [Restore License]. If this doesn’t solve the issue continue to step 3
- Go to Library, highlight Grim Fandango and press Options
- Delete Game Content
- While still in the Library highlight Grim Fandango and press X to re-download the content
- Restore licenses again
The problem has made fans furious as their comments suggest and they have the right to be; they paid for the game early so they can play it as soon as it comes out.
Sony should improve their PSN service to avoid these issues in the future. Do let us know whether Sony’s proposed solution helped your case!
