Homeworld Remastered Collection Release Date Announced, Coming February 25

Fans of space strategy games in general and Homeworld series in particular have been waiting for quite a while now, almost 2 years in fact, for the remastered release of the Homeworld franchise. While the news that Gearbox Software was working on the remastered collection came out in 2013, further information on the project had been pretty scarce.

Recently, however, Gearbox brought the game back to everyone’s attention by not only releasing the first gameplay trailer and a couple of screenshots, showcasing the new visuals but also announced the release date and the price tag of the collection.

The Homeworld Remastered Collection, available to pre-order now on Steam will include Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2, rebuilt from scratch, as well as the original classic versions of both games. The collection also includes beta access to the Homeworld Remaster Steam Multiplayer.

The classic versions of the games aren’t however just straight up re-releases of the same old games. They were also given a few technical enhancements for compatibility with the newer systems. If someone missed out on playing these games back when they were released, the remastered versions would be the best option to try out.

The collection is available to pre order at 15% discount. This promotion ends on Feb. 24, 2015 while the remastered collection itself will be available on Feb. 25, 2015.
