Early Access to SOE’s zombie-survival H1Z1 is now available on Steam for $19.99.
Although the game is eventually going to launch as a free-to-play title, some players saw it fitting to pay and play the game while it’s being developed.
As expected, the launch is brimming with errors and launch issues – it’s still being developed, after all. This guide is designed to provide you an overview of most commonly reported errors and their possible workarounds.
How to Change Keybindings
As of this instant, players are unable to change keys according to their preference. Hopefully, SOE is working on it and will update on a later date. You can also try out the following solution provided by GhostScare on Steam:
If you go to the installation folder search for a file named “InputProfile_User.xml”. Open it with notepad and then you can change the keys. Alltough you’ll need some searching to do because it isn’t really organized that good.
Crashes After Clicking ‘Play’
Some users are reporting that as soon as hit the ‘Play’ button, the game crashes back to desktop. One possible solution to make this work is to close the launcher and go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\H1Z1 (Your own directory may vary depending upon the installation)
Once there, find the LaunchPad.exe, right click on it, and run it as Administrator which should run it fine!
In-Game Chat Issues
Another common issue which is faced by many players is the inability to use in-game chat. This is a known bug which is found in some servers. Luckily, developers are aware of this issue and are looking forward to provide a fix in days to come.
You can check this thread for fixes. If you come across any other issue, comment and we will help you out!
