Rockstar Games has released a new trailer for GTA Online Heists and the four-player co-op mode is finally prepped for release in early 2015.
To pull off a heist, all four players will need to be rank 12 or higher. Another requirement is owning a high-end apartment where the Heist Leader will setup shop. From here on he/she will be able to give out missions, starting with the prep work and ending up with the loot.
The job of a Heist Leader sounds exciting but there are both advantages and disadvantages to take into account. As the leader, you’ll be able to pick out your crew, assign positions, decide outfits and the cut of each player.
However, all expenditures are going to fall on to the leader as well. It will be his duty to sponsor the heist in order for it to be successful.
Speaking with IGN, GTA Online producer and lead mission designer Imran Sarwar explained why it has taken them this long to push out a feature that should have been present last year.
“To be honest, they just turned out to be a lot more difficult than we originally thought,” he summarized. The biggest challenge was to create a new gameplay experience based on the Story Mode heists, but one which offered cooperative play and gameplay experience on a greater scale.
Months of work went into coming up with the four-player structure and from Sarwar’s words, it seems like Rockstar originally had imagined something even greater but had to settle for less at the end.
In related news the PC version of GTA V was delayed to late March. At least the PC community won’t have to wait long for online heists like the rest of the platforms.
