This week’s Nintendo Direct presentation came with a long list of announcements and confirmations thanks to Reggie Fils-Aime the chief operating officer and president of Nintendo of America.
The biggest news by far was the release date announcement of the New Nintendo 3DS XL in the North American and European Union regions. The company has announced that fans in the said regions will be able to get their hands on it on February 13, 2015.
It was also announced that while the EU regions are going to get both the New 3DS and the New 3DS XL, the North American regions are only getting the New 3DS XL in Red and Black Colors. The colors are different for the EU region; the regular version will come in black and white while the XL version will come in blue and black.
The regular model is also going to get 12 faceplates; and there will be no charger with it. The price is going to be $200.
The next big thing that the presentation announced was the release of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in the region on the same date i.e. February 13.

That being said, some Wii games are going to be made available on the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U. All oh these titles will be priced at $20 on usual days except for the release day when the price is going to be slashed to $10. Here are the announced titles:
- Super Mario Galaxy 2 – now available
- Donkey Kong Country Returns (EU) – January 22
- Punch-Out!! (North America) – January 22
- Metroid Prime Trilogy – January 29
Moving on, some new Amiibo figurines were announced for the Super Mario Amiibo series and otherwise. The characters you will be able to buy include Robin, Lucina, Pac-Man, Wario, Ness, Charizard and Toad. Also, more Amiibo figurines for Marth are on their way.
There was word on the Pokemon world too. A new game is coming your way in the form of Pokemon Shuffle, but it is not like the usual games. In fact, it resembles the match three mobile games in terms of gameplay and it is a free to play title for the 3DS.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong is also coming to Wii U and 3DS in a form of cross buy offer where buying one version will get you a download code for the other. Puzzles and Dragon Z is coming to the EU and North American regions in dual packaging bearing the Super Mario Bros. version.
Last but not the least, Hyrule Warriors is getting a new DLC pack themed with Majora’s Mask that will bring Tingle and Young Link as playable characters alongside some character skins.
It surely looks like Nintendo is turning up the heat for the west! Massive business strategy incoming!
