Santa Monica Studio, which is famous for its work on God of War franchise, went through some difficult times earlier this year, when a large number of its team members were let go and a new IP that was being worked on was cancelled.
In a new post, studio head Shannon Studstill looked back at those days and called that period the most challenging days of her career.
In February we went through one of the darkest times in our studio history, shuttering a project that had been in development for quite some time and loosing a significant amount of team members. That was one of the most challenging days of my career.
However, she wants to leave those dark days behind and focus on what’s ahead. She assures that 2015 will be the year of surprises.
2015 will be full of great surprises! With no promises on what glimpses of our AAA PlayStation 4 Internal project will bring, but this upcoming year for Santa Monica Studio is going to be significant.
PlayStation Experience event this year was a huge success and it seems that Studstill along with her team at Santa Monica Studio will be playing a huge role at the next year’s PSX event.
I’m sure the PlayStation Experience will be back for Round 2 sometime late next year, we expect that Santa Monica Studio will play a significant role in it yet again.
We already know that the new entry in God of War series is in development, and this ‘significant role’ might be a hint for the official announcement for the new title.
When do you think Santa Monica will officially unveil the next entry in God of War series? Let us know!
