2014 is almost over and we are moving into 2015 with hope that it will be an amazing year of gaming for us all. Not that 2014 wasn’t, but most of the awaited games faced issues or were over hyped and failed to deliver.
Now that all of it is behind us, we are looking forward to experience the full potential of the next generation of consoles. There are plenty of good games and we at SegmentNext, have shortlisted our top 10 most anticipated games on Sony’s PS4.
#1: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Were there any doubts about Uncharted being on top of 2015? Although an obvious contender, we can’t wait to see Nathan Drake on PS4. Sony and Naughty Dog kept their silence till PlayStation Experience but I would have to say, all that wait for a gameplay reveal was worth it.
Uncharted 4 showed us seamless transition from gameplay to cut-scene and vise versa, and when Nathan’s cloth fabric and hair blow in the wind, you know it’s next-gen.
Naughty Dog has done some impressive work with anti-aliasing and the game runs at a smooth native 1080p. The developer is targeting 60 Fps and even though they are capable enough, it will be interesting to see if the final build runs at 60 or not.
Gameplay is better than ever and what I would like to mention here is that, what we have seen in the gameplay reveal, it takes years for devs to achieve that. Just the flow of action sequences is amazing and we can’t wait to see more of Uncharted 4.
This one, is going to be a hell of a ride!
Sony’s poster boy, Nathan Drake, will be seen embarking on his new adventure 2015.
Bloodborne is From Software’s upcoming action RPG and it made it to #2 after a much heated debate here at the office. Some of my colleagues wanted The Order 1886 to be on second place but Bloodborne came to be the final choice.
Both The Order and Bloodborne look great visually but gameplay is what makes Bloodborne a better game.
Players are more engaged with the game when taking control of their character. There is no shield which means the emphasis on gameplay is on dodging enemy attacks. The game features a quick-step mechanic to avoid enemy attacks, this is a crucial part of gameplay this time around in a From Software RGP.
Players who were able to play the game during the alpha, will know that Bloodborne is a brutally demanding and a highly challenging game.
Visuals are impressive and gameplay will definitely keep you hooked for hours.
#3: The Order 1886
Ready At Dawn is taking us on an epic journey of myths and monsters with The Order 1886. Visually, the game is one of the most beautiful looking titles on PS4.
Set in the Victorian era the game will put us in the shoes of Galahad, a member of the ancient order of knights. The Industrial Revolution is upon us and battles are raging all over London between the knights and half bread monsters.
When it comes to gameplay, The Order is a simple cover-based shooter with QTE’s. However, what makes this game so intriguing and exciting is the setting, concept and amazing character detail.
We can put on some fancy Victorian outfits and grab our weapons inspired by the Industrial Revolution, created by Nikola Tesla and roam the streets of London to clear the menace and save the world.
Number 3, seems like the right place for the Knights of the Order.
#4: No Man’s Sky
If Hello Games is to be believed, No Man’s Sky is going to feature the biggest universe ever seen in a video game. The game will have procedurally generated universe, which I believe we won’t be able to fully explore in one lifetime.
Players will engage in battle with various hostile forces and can land on numerous planets, explore and know everything there is to know about them.
Just so you know how massive the universe of No Man’s Sky will be, there are 18 quintillion possible planets.
I am all in for massive exploration games but to keep people interested in the game, exploration isn’t enough. Hello Games should make sure that the universe doesn’t feel empty in terms of things to do.
No Man’s Sky sits pretty at number 4!
#5: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher has been delayed twice but knowing CD Projekt Red, the wait will be worth it. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the biggest 2015 releases and from what we have seen, it is surely in the running for game of the year.
The setting around 30 times bigger than the previous installment with heavy focus on exploration and players will have to use some means of transport to reach some locations. For example a sailboat or a horse can come in handy.
#6: Batman Arkham Knight
Who doesn’t love the caped crusader? Batman’s Arkham series will come to an end with the release of Arkham Knight in 2015. The game looks amazing both visually and in terms of gameplay.
Most of all, for the first time in the series, Batmobile is going to be a part of the game. Batman will be seen taking on some renowned villains such as the scarecrow. There is also a new and mysterious character on the hunt for Batman, his name is revealed as the Arkham Knight.
Why is he hunting down Batman? We’ll know once the game comes out.
#7: Battlefield Hardline
After things went horribly wrong with Battlefield 4, I was really not in the mood for paying for another Battlefield game but, then came the announcement of Battlefield Hardline. So, I thought, EA is finally going to do something different with the franchise, how can I skip this historic event?
The more I learned about the game, the more I got into it. Battlefield Hardline is a multiplayer heavy cops vs criminal first person shooter.
Drifting away from its military roots, the next Battlefield is going to feature four new game modes and a plethora of weapons.
Single player will be heading into a bit of a non-linear direction as players will have the option to kill or arrest certain criminals and make other in-game decisions.
Battlefield Harline, is our number 7!
#8: Next Assassin’s Creed
Now you might say that the series has been milked and they do the same thing over and over every year but, there is a reason this franchise is still alive and going strong in terms of sales.
We all love being an assassin and explore historical cities. That’s exactly why as soon as an AC game comes out, fans start discussing which place to visit next.
The next game in the series is set in Victorian London and is being referred as Assassin’s Creed Victory. Although fans have been requesting Ubisoft to take their time with the next iteration (which they should), it seems like we are going to see a release in 2015 after all.
Let’s just hope that it will not be a mess like Unity.
#9 Mortal Kombat X
The intense fighting action of Mortal Kombat is back once again in the form of Mortal Kombat X. The game’s roster will include some of the most iconic characters such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, Kano along with some new ones like Kotal Kahn, Ferra/Torr, Cassie Cage among others.
Mortal Kombat X is the most anticipated game of its genre to be released in 2015. This time around, things will be a bit different as players will have three different move sets to choose from and they will be able to interact will environments as well. The game seemed like a right fit for our top ten.
#10: Until Dawn
Rounding-up our top-ten list is Until Dawn. The game follows the story of 8 teenagers, trapped in a cabin in the woods. They are being hunted down by a psychotic killer and the only way to live is to survive until dawn.
The concept is ripped right out of a teen horror flick, not everyone will survive and every decision you make will impact the story and the eventual outcome. Are you willing to die for a friend or take his/her life to save your own?
Well, that was our list of most anticipated PS4 Games but I am sure that yours can be different. Share with us in the comments below and tell us which games you are waiting the most and why.
