Online retailer Play-Asia has caused quite a stir in the gaming communities by listing Mafia III for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Discovered by a NeoGAF member earlier today, the listing’s description mentions car chases, hand-to-hand combat, intense gunplay and an engrossing gameplay experience set in a gangster setting. It looks too identical to Mafia II’s description and hence makes this listing either a total mistake or a placeholder – until 2K Games can forward official content.
It’s being speculated that 2K Games’ latest studio Hangar 13 – led by Star Wars developer Haden Blackman – will be working on the Mafia sequel. If that’s true then this game will probably release in fall of 2016 since the studio just recently became operational.
This isn’t the first time that Mafia III has been mentioned on the web. The game has been rumored to be in on the drawing tables this year. 2K Games has yet to release a statement about the listing and here’s our fingers crossed of the publisher announcing that it’s legitimate.
Play-Asia has been known to leak titles ahead of its intended announcement date. So far, the leaks have had a pretty strong turn out and that is why we’d like to think that Mafia III is certainly happening.
