Yesterday, it was revealed that a new mobile game in the Final Fantasy series had been confirmed by Square Enix through the famous Japanese magazine Famitsu. The game is called Mevius Final Fantasy and it now has a teaser website as well.
The producer Yoshinori KItase also left a message on the website where he detailed what they were aiming at with Mevius Final Fantasy:
A new era of gaming is here. We’re crafting a full-scale, high-quality RPG world the likes of which has never been seen on smartphones and tablets. This is the end product of longtime Final Fantasy creators bringing the series to mobile—and things will never be the same.
Not just that; the developers have also dropped a line or two on the same teaser page that give us an introduction to the game’s storyline:
You wake up in an unfamiliar world, without any memories whatsoever. Where you came from, let alone where you’re headed, you have no idea, yet all you can do is set forth and walk onward. A mysterious voice calls out to you, guiding you along your path.
So far the developers haven’t shared much about the game but we know that it is being developed for Android as well as iPhone. The game is slated for a release in the Japanese region in spring 2015.
We don’t know if the game will be localized for the western market, but do tell us if you will be buying it when it releases or not.
