Tropico 5 will be receiving its first major expansion pack called Waterborne next week, Kalypso Media has announced.
El Presidente is looking to expand his empire through the neighboring sea in order to find “lucrative new industrial opportunities.
Players will be given access to a variety of water-based upgrades and options. They can now build Oyster and Kelp farms, tidal power plants, and floating apartments, amongst other things. Players can take advantage of the ocean’s beauty to create new tourist attractions, while in the military division there’s also the option of launching submarines.
There will be a new campaign that comprises of six missions. The expansion will also introduce more avatar accessories, costumes, four new island maps, nine new buildings and vehicles.
Waterborne releases for Tropico 5 on December 17 and will be available through Steam and the publisher’s own client. The expansion will cost £14.99 / €19.99 / $19.99.
Tropico 5 was first released on PC in May this year and broke franchise sales records. One of the major highlights of the new installment was that it brought cooperative and competitive multiplayer for the first time in the series. Up to four players can play simultaneously and manage resources between them or against each other.
The game was released on Xbox 360 last month and a PS4 version is expected to launch in early 2015.
